A Lightweight and Low-Voltage-Operating Linear Actuator Based on the Electroactive Polymer Polypyrrole

In recent decades, significant research efforts have been devoted to studying various types of actuators. Of particular interest are soft actuators based on electroactive polymers, which offer low operating voltage, light weight, and fast response. this study, we demonstrate the feasibility a linear actuator fabricated from polypyrrole (PPy), an polymer that is easy synthesize, cost-effective, biocompatible. By optimizing polymerization conditions, operation condition environment, were able achieve improved stable performance. Furthermore, developed new actuator-contained component with flexible counter electrode build operates in air. This approach enabled us small lightweight operate air, diameter 5 mm, resembling artificial muscles. Our resulting miniaturized integrated PPy-based can be driven at voltages (±1.5 V), making them suitable for use parts body. As such, holds potential wide range applications fields electronics, drug delivery, organs, muscles, as well material portable medical sensors devices.
